Τhe island is famous for the countless sources
It is worth to visit sources in the village Menites and the unique natural beauty of "Pythara" in village Apoikia where lies the famous spring water Sariza. The water of the famous thermal spring is rich various minerals.
Aladino Bridge and Cave
Aladino stone bridge at the same named village (4km away from Chora) build in 1680,. Under the single arced the water of Megalos Potamos steams. From this point , the route to one fo the top sights of the island starts. Foros or Aladinos Cavewhich counts4.5-5 millions years of life and 500 sm in size. It was discovered in 1932 and includes five halls. (tour by appointment: 22820-51883).
Hiking and Andros Trail Race
Andros is an island worth to discover all four seasons.Through a well-organised network of paths that reach 180 km the visitors has the opportunity to experience the wild beauty of the natural environment. Most trails are medium difficulty and are 7-9 km long,easily walked even by those who have not previously attempted something similar. It is worth to mention, that 100 km of network have ensured European quality certification and Andros island is the only island in Europe that has certification for the trails.
Cool spoon sweets, macaroons (very different from those of other islands) and "kaltsouia", are some of the local sweet dishes to be tried by a visitor in Andros.The island is famous not only for sweets, but also for the cheeses. There are Small dairy units that make up the famous "Stony" cheese, the "Volaki" , the "Kopanisti" and several others types of cheese. Famous for the quality and taste are the Andros sausages, pork meat, with many herbs. These give the special taste in "fourtalia" which is the most traditional local food.
